Library staff does not need to perform additional steps to integrate order information into their library management system Main added value: increased workflow efficiency

10 © 2016 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Alma API Order Workflow User searches OASIS and builds list of books to order or picks from an approval list Order is placed in OASIS which causes data (a very brief MARC record ) to be sent via API to Alma to create order line in PO Overnight a more complete brief MARC record is sent to Alma which overwrites the very brief record created by the API Invoice data and MARC records flow to Alma system when book is shipped 2 1 3 4 OASIS / CIS* * CIS = backend database for OASIS Librarian

11 © 2016 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Workflow: What happens next? 1.The order has been placed in OASIS and now is waiting for delivery 2.An [optional] email confirmation of the order will be sent by OASIS 3.If users want a “more complete” brief MARC record*, ProQuest will set up an overnight transfer of that record for the customer to load into their system for better discovery 4.EDI order confirmations and status reports will be sent for processing by Alma so the library can receive the latest status of the order 5.If the customer selects to use EDI invoicing, this will be sent at the time the book is shipped, and automatically processed by Alma 6.If the customer also purchases MARC records from OASIS, those records will be sent and uploaded to Alma automatically 7.All that’s left is to receive the item in Alma * This option is available only through the Alma OASIS integration

12 © 2016 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Alma & OASIS Integration Setup: Rules of Engagement ProQuest Books will help the customer through the setup process Customer must request Alma API key through Ex Libris.
