3. The Beginning The Israel and Palestine conflict all started because the Jewish and Arabs didn't believe in the same things. They each wanted their own share of land making, they tried to make negotiations for land, but each side was never satisfied. Wars and rebellions were made for revenge of massacres.

4. Map Activity Using the following three maps… 1.Compare the key differences between them 2.Explain how the state has changed from the first map to the end 3.What conclusions can we make after analyzing them?

5. Rebellion, Wars, and Conflict Deir Yassin Massacre: It was caused by the Balfour Declaration and was done to make way for an ethnically Jewish state. Deir Yassin Massacre happened on April 9th of 1948. It was a massacre where Jewish forces killed more than 100 men, women, and children in a Palestinian and Arab village. This was the beginning of over 400 Arab/ Palestinian villages and cities. Many people that lived in Deir Yassin were exiled.

6. Six day war Israel adopted a policy of diverting water from the Jordan River to the Negev Desert and this was became the cause of the tension. Naturally, this angered Arabs so much that they threatened to divert this flow into Lake Galilee. Israel attacked Egypt to gain control over the land that used to be controlled by Egypt, Syria, and Jordan in 1967. The UN passed a resolution that achieved the withdrawal of Israel from the land conquered after the wars.

7. Yom Kippur After the victory in the Six-Day War in 1967, Israelis became very dispirited.The growing level of terrorism, combined with the threats from Egypt made peace seem further away.The Arab states looked for a way to avenge the humiliation of their defeat. Arabs wanted to get control back of the Sinai Peninsula and the Golan Heights. This was a three week war where Egypt and Syria attacked Israel (unexpectedly) in the month of Ramadan and the Jewish fast of Yom Kippur in 1963. The war was a political victory for Egypt and Syria because they found Israel’s weaknesses. Israel also saw it as a success because they maintained control of the Golan Heights and Sinai Peninsula.

8. Sabra Shatila The Israeli Defense Forces wanted to remove the threat of any Palestine Liberation Organization attacks. Sabra & Shatila 1982: Defense Minister Ariel Sharon ordered Israeli-allied militias to go into the Sabra and Shatila, Palestinian refugee camps, and kill them. 2000 unarmed Palestinian people were killed. The Israeli army took over and stayed in what used to be the Palestinian refugee camps.

9. First Intifada After Israel's capture of the West bank, Jerusalem, Sinai Peninsula and Gaza Strip from Jordan and Egypt in the Six-Day War in 1967, frustration grew among Palestinians in the Israeli-occupied territories. First Intifada happened in 1987 until the madrid conference in 1991. It was a violent, but unarmed Palestinian uprising against the Israeli occupation on West Bank and Gaza Strip.The uprising began in the Jabalia refugee camp after an army truck ploughed into a car killing four Palestinians, and quickly spread throughout Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem. Resulted in international attention, showed two sides of Israel-Palestine conflict, and empowered Palestinians to enter negotiations.

10. Second Intifada The Israelites Failed to come to an agreement at the Camp David Summit. The Second Intifada also known as the Al-aqsa Intifada and the Oslo War where 3000 Palestinians and over 1000 Jews died. The economy of the West Bank and Gaza Strip was ruined by Israel.
