Grammar: Complements A complement is a word of word group that completes the meaning of the verb. A direct object is a noun, pronoun, or word group that tells who or what receives the action of the verb. Example: Corey studied Mother Theresa in history class. Write the sentences below. Circle the direct object and write D.O. above it. 1. My brother bought a television for his room. 2. Jan called somebody for the assignment.

Grammar: Complements A direct object answers the question Whom? Or What? after a verb. A direct object may be a compound of two or more objects. Do you enjoy books and movies about horses?

Grammar: Complements An indirect object is a noun, pronoun, or word group that usually comes between the verb and the direct object. Write D.O. above the direct object and I.O. above the indirect object. 1. Ellie sent me a postcard from Ecuador. 2. My brother showed me a book about different types of board games.

Thomas and his relatives rode a train into the Andes Mountains. 2. He brought us some unusual souvenirs from his trip.

Grammar: Complements Like a direct object, an indirect object can be compound. Example: She gave Ed and me the list of summer activities. Write the sentences below. Write D.O. above the direct object and I.O. above the indirect object. 1. Mrs. Robbins gave Tabitha and Samantha the quizzes. 2. She bought Kyle and me some sandwiches.
