1 Greek roots vocabulary: “chronos” means time and “phon” means sound

2 anachronism- an event or object is placed in a time period where it doesn't belong. Sample sentence: That picture of a car in the 1600's is an anachronism because there were no cars then.

3 chronic- lasting a long time.- (synonym-continuous)

4 Chronicle - a record of happenings (synonym- an account of)

5 chronology- a list of events arranged in the order in which they occurred.

6 synchronize- to make happen at the same time. (synonym = coincide)

7 Megaphone - a horn that increases the loudness of a voice

8 Euphonious - means pleasing to the ear (synonym = harmonious)

9 Phonics - the association of letters with speech sounds

10 Symphony - a composition for an orchestra to play. (a musical piece)

11 cacophony - (pronounced ka-kof-any) - a harsh clashing sound. (dissonance)
