3 Geographical Information Systems (GIS) used by public and staff to access geographic and property information 2012 Budget, Council approval for GIS upgrades by Co-op student GIS

5 Project One Shoreline Reconciliation

6 Project One  Approximately 40km of shoreline  800 or 16% of properties located on waterfront Shoreline Reconciliation

7 Shoreline Project  Shoreline changes with time

8 Shoreline Project  Co-op student compared legal plans with existing mapping information

9 Shoreline Project  Survey monuments were used to improve accuracy

10 Shoreline Project  Updates to mapping information was completed

11 Shoreline Project  New Legal Plans provide the current location of the shoreline  Old Legal Plans show the shoreline as it existed in the past

12 Shoreline Project  BC Land surveyors identify the shoreline, which may be different from older plans  Can result in a very irregular shoreline

13 Shoreline Project  Some legal plans date back 100 years  It is recommended that a new survey be done

14 Shoreline Project  Improved shoreline accuracy  Better lot area calculations Benefits

15 Project Two Civic Addressing

16 Project Two  Point Based Civic Addressing  Every Business on airport land now has an address  Improves Response Time by Emergency Services Civic Addressing

17  Previously there was only one address for the entire marina  Now 17 addresses that provides more accurate data and better emergency response Civic Addressing

18  First Nation land does not fall within the municipality however, District is responsible for Emergency Services Civic Addressing

19  New civic addressing is used by Emergency Services Civic Addressing

20  An accurate civic address results in a timely response by emergency personnel Civic Addressing

21  Improved location accuracy  Locate service structures such as pump stations and meter vaults Benefits
