3 3 The project is focused on the offshore installation of wind turbines by designing a new vessel that extends the concept of transporting a deck to site on a catamaran and installing it by the “float over method”. A 6MW turbine has been considered for the Vessel Design Purpose. Loads introduce by the Turbine during transportation and installation have been defined. Several Met-Ocean Conditions have been considered as well as port locations. The project also includes the logistics onshore, that will lead to the load out of the WTG. Work comprise the Vessel design as well as the WTG Tower and connections. Basin Tests have been performed. Project Consortium Agreement in Place. Funding approved by Countries. 4 4 Initial Concept Current Concept development Based on project development, initial concept has develop: Use of DSIV Elevating capacity = 20,000 t (96 pinions) Hulls = 142.5m x 25m x 12m Displacement = 28,000 t Rear door to operate Not really fit for purpose ! Barge = 87 m x 18 m x 9 m, Draft = 4.60 m One central linking beam : 66 m x 30/16 m x 20 m Dynamic Positioning during installation Vertical handling of WTGs (heave compensation) Square Leg 16 m x 16 m x 84 m Lateral quick release shimming at top and bottom of the turbines mast Roll & pitch cancellation system: slo-roll (passive) Really fit for purpose !
