12 A runway incursion can happen in one or more of the following situations:  complacency  poor communication  loss of situational awareness  poor visibility

13 Identifiable features to prevent runway incursions:  holding position markings on taxiways and runways  non-movement area boundary markings or any markings bordering the AOA that may cause an incursion or surface incident  RSAs

14 Basic functions  Provide position of RIWS-equipped vehicle locations  Provide a moving map indicating the position of the vehicle on the airport  Provide a warning/alert signal (audible and visual ) to the vehicle driver

15 Performance  The required system performance for vehicle location: <10ft 95% of the time and update rate: once per second (minimum)  Vehicle warning time: increase 6 feet in advance of the movement direction for every 1 mph increase in speed.  System initialization: upon vehicle start-up

16 Ambient environmental specifications  Operating temperature range: -4F to 140 F  Dust, water and vibration resistance  Humidity  Weather conditions (local)

17 Minimum vehicle display requirements  5-inch diagonal touch screen  Display resolution of 480 x 272 pixels  WQVGA (Wide Quarter Video Graphic Array) colour TFT (Thin-film transistor) with white backlight  Moving map  Proximity warnings
