Content - Being at peace I have enough Trusting God for today and the future based on his presence up to today (Psalm 131) Not being driven by fear (Mark 4)

Psalm 131: Content like a weaned child with its mother My heart is not proud, Lord, my eyes are not haughty; I do not concern myself with great matters or things too wonderful for me. But I have calmed and quieted myself, I am like a weaned child with its mother; like a weaned child I am content. Israel, put your hope in the Lord both now and forevermore. Trusting God for today and the future based on his presence up to today

This is the air I breathe This is the air I breathe Your holy presence living in me. This is my daily bread This is my daily bread Your very word spoken to me. And I, I'm desperate for You. And I, I'm lost without You. Trusting God for today and the future based on his presence up to today

Content - Being at peace I have enough Trusting God for today and the future based on his presence up to today (Psalm 131) Not being driven by fear (Mark 4)

11 Jacob, [on the run from Esau] stopped for the night. Taking one of the stones there, he put it under his head and lay down to sleep. 12 He had a dream in which he saw a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. 13 There above it stood the Lord, and he said: “ 14 All peoples on earth will be blessed through you and your offspring. 15 I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.” (Genesis 28) Not driven by fear

Take Jesus into the boat just as he is Jesus proclaims that the kingdom of God is near and tells people to repent and believe the good news Verbal proclamation is with authority, through parables (seed, wineskins), and takes place at meal times Proclamation includes lots of healing (Simon’s mother-in-law; Leper; shrivelled hand) Verbal proclamation is challenging : evil spirits are driven out, people called to follow, repent (Levi) and be forgiven (paralytic) – some do (new family), some don’t (religious people) Proclamation is exhausting (fell asleep in the boat) Trusting God for today and the future based on his presence up to today. Not driven by fear

35 That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” 36 Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. 37 A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was already filling up. 38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we are doomed?” 39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. 40 He said to his disciples, “Why are you driven by fear? Do you still have no faith?” 41 They were awestruck and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!” Mark 4 Thank God for his written Word to us Trusting God for today and the future based on his presence up to today. Not driven by fear

Even though I walk through the valley Of the shadow of death, Your perfect love is casting out fear. And even when I’m caught in the middle Of the storm of this life, I won’t turn back; I know You are near. And I will fear no evil, For my God is with me. And if my God is with me, Whom then shall I fear? Whom then shall I fear? Oh no, You never let go, Through the calm and through the storm. Oh no, You never let go, In every high and every low. Oh no, You never let go, Lord, You never let go of me. And I can see a light that is coming For the heart that holds on; A glorious light beyond all compare. And there will be an end to these troubles, But until that day comes, We’ll live to know You here on the earth. Trusting God for today and the future based on his presence up to today. Not driven by fear

From Amen to Action May the God of hope fill us with all joy and peace in believing, through the power of the Holy Spirit; cf Romans 15.13 And may the Blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, be among you and remain with you always.
