Assignment LAB ASSIGNMENT 7-1 Straight Numeric and Terminal-Digit Filing OBJECTIVES At the end of this assignment, the student should be able to: Sequence patient record numbers in straight numeric filing order Sequence patient record numbers in terminal-digit filing order Overview In straight numeric filing, records are filed in strict chronologic order according to patient number, from the lowest to the highest number. Terminal-digit filing is used in health care facilities that assign six-digit patient numbers because the number can be easily subdivided into three parts: primary, secondary, and tertiary digits. This assignment will familiarize the student with organizing patient numbers according to the straight numeric and terminal-digit filing order.
