3 What is an Artist? Being an artist is not just about putting paint, pencil etc on paper. It involves expression, creativity and confidence in your work. Artists should have not be restricted to the realistic they should experiment with the abstract.

4 Why should art be a part of the curriculum? Art is a vital part of the school curriculum as it allows children to explore and express with freedom their creative selves. Schools have an obligation to expose children to the arts at an early age and to consider the arts as fundamental - not optional - curriculum areas.

5 Why is art important in schools? The arts play an important role in human development, enhancing the growth of cognitive and emotional pathways. Learning the arts provides a higher quality of human experience throughout a person's lifetime.

6 Thinking like an Artist It is often difficult to come up with ideas in Art for projects here are some ideas for teachers and students to get “thinking like an artist”:  Dream On: Discover ways to use your dreams  An Artrageous Hat: Design a thinking cap as an inspiration for making art.  Most importantly learn how to make and keep your own sketchbook, recording all your ideas.
