Presentation Orale Answer the question “Qu’est-ce que tu as fait le weekend passe?” with much detail. To answer that question, explain what you did last weekend or one day of last weekend. Use at least different 5 Reflexive verbs, 4 ETRE verbs and 3 AVOIR verbs in the passe compose Remember, negative sentences are just as interesting as affirmative sentences. Be sure to have at least 3 sentences that begin with subjects other than “JE”, for example….Mes amis…, mes amis et moi…, Ma mere…,.mon pere…., mes co-equipiers…., le serveur…, You will be graded using the PALS rubric which includes: VocabularyLanguage controlPrononciation/fluency Task completionLevel of discoursecomprehensibility

Presentation orale, cont. “How long does it have to be?” There is a maximum: 1 minute 30 seconds. There is no minimum, however, think about the PALS rubric…in order to achieve a 3 or 4 on “task completion” you must go above and beyond the task, provide detail and organized thoughts. In order to achieve 3 or 4 on “level of discourse” you must have sophisticated sentences and many transition words. In order to achieve 3 or 4 on “vocabulary” you must use a great variety of Level 2 vocabulary. Etc. A good presentation will probably be about a minute with fluid speech.

“Can I use notes? Does it have to be memorized?” No, No. No, you can not use notes or read from anything. No, it does not have to be memorized. Although many people will memorize their presentations, it does not have to be memorized. Instead, you will use visual aids / illustrations as a prompt to what you will say. You may use a powerpoint with visuals, you may use a posterboard with visuals. A presentation that is read will be unscoreable and will receive a 0. Remember: use of an online translator will result in an unscoreable assignment and will receive a 0.

Here is how I would start… 1)I would gather my vocabulary lists from Unit 3, but maybe also from Unit 2 (food) and Unit 1 (chores, house) because that will give me ideas of details I can include and will keep me from having to use a dictionary. 2)2) I would write out a good (about a page) description of what I did last weekend or a day of last weekend. Remember you can invent details. Maybe I went to the movies, maybe I saw President Obama, maybe I broke my leg and went to the hospital.

3 ) Then I would look it over to be sure I had 5 reflexive verbs, 4 ETRE verbs and 3 AVOIR verbs in the past tense and subjects other than JE. 4) Then I would make sure I have good transition words and sentence extenders (sentence extenders are phrases that answer when? (in the morning, right away) how? (quickly, poorly, well, ) where? (in the park, to the mall) etc.) 5) Then I would think about how I could draw that description into a cartoon with maybe 4 or 5 frames. These would be my illustrations. I can certainly use more than 4 or 5 frames if I need. 6) Then, using those 4 or 5 illustrations, I would try telling the story and decide if I need to add an extra picture to help me remember a detail. For example, if I want to say “For breakfast, I had toast with butter and jam” I might decide I want a separate picture of jam and a separate picture of butter so I won’t forget those two vocabulary words.
