Proper Plant Care Tomato plants in a Greenhouse

Things to consider when planting.  Watering  Temperature  Nutrients

Watering A Tomato Plant.  New transplants need only about 2 ounces (50 ml) per plant per day.  At maturity on sunny days, however, plants may need up to 3 quarts (2.7 liters or 2,700 ml) of water per plant per day.  Why do plants need so much water? Click here for answer. Information obtained from http://msucares.com/pubs/publications/p1828.htm#irrigation

Because they loose it through their stomata Picture found at http://www.tutorvista.com/content/biology/biology-iv/plant-water-relations/pathway-water-root.phphttp://www.tutorvista.com/content/biology/biology-iv/plant-water-relations/pathway-water-root.php

Maintaining Temperature  day temperature of 70 to 82 °F  night temperature of 62 to 64 °F  Below 60 °F, nutrient deficiencies may occur because plants cannot absorb some elements at cool temperatures  over 90 °F, lycopene (the pigment that makes tomatoes red) no longer develops. Information obtained from http://msucares.com/pubs/publications/p1828.htm#irrigation

Plants need nutrients just like us. What do plants eat? Click here to find answer.

Plants eat fertilizer. The three main elements in fertilizer are:  Nitrogen (N)  Phosphorus (P)  Potassium (K) Information obtained from http://msucares.com/pubs/publications/p1828.htm#irrigation

If You make sure these are correct your tomato plant will grow just like this! Clip fromhttp://www.animationlibrary.com/sc/311/Flowers/?page=5 Microsoft clip
