Motivation This contribution provide simulation results for performance comparison between 1-bit, basic 2-bit and enhanced 2-bit HARQ feedback performance

Basic 1-bit and 2-bit HARQ feedback Basic 1-bit HARQ feedback: –Each MS chooses one sequence from even numbered channel or odd number numbered channel –The MS sends the chosen sequence as the HARQ feedback –Three HMTs can carry two sequences to transmit two HARQ feedbacks Basic 2-bit HARQ feedback –Each MS chooses one sequence from four sequences –The MS sends the chosen sequence as the HARQ feedback –Three HMTs carry only one sequence to transmit two HARQ feedbacks –Since two HARQ feedbacks are carried by one sequence, the power of two sequences is aggregated to one sequence, i.e. 3dB power gain Sequence index Orthogonal sequence1-bit Feedabck Basic 2-bit Feedback (even/odd channel) 0 [+1 +1 +1 +1]Even numbered channel ACK ACK/ACK 1[+1 -1 +1 -1]Even numbered channel NACK ACK/NACK 2[+1 +1 -1 -1]Odd numbered channel ACK NACK/ACK 3[+1 -1 -1 +1]Odd numbered channel NACK NACK/NACK

Enhanced 2-bit HARQ feedback –Each MS chooses one sequence from even numbered channel or odd number numbered channel –The MS sends the chosen sequence as the HARQ feedback –Three HMTs carry only two sequence to transmit four HARQ feedbacks –Since two HARQ feedbacks are carried by one sequence, the power is boosted by extra 3dB due to doubled information Sequence indexSequences Enhanced 2-bit Feedback (even/odd channel) 0[+2 0 +2 0] Even numbered channel ACK/ACK 1[0 +2 0 +2] Even numbered channel ACK/NACK 2[+1+j +1-j +1+j +1-j] Even numbered channel NACK/ACK 3[+1-j +1+j +1-j +1+j] Even numbered channel NACK/NACK 4[+2 0 -2 0] Odd numbered channel ACK/ACK 5[0 +2 0 -2] Odd numbered channel ACK/NACK 6[+1+j +1-j -1-j -1+j] Odd numbered channel NACK/ACK 7[+1-j +1+j -1+j -1-j] Odd numbered channel NACK/NACK

Performance Comparison Basic 2-bit HARQ feedback provides at least 2.5dB performance gain Enhanced 2-bit HARQ feedback renders 5dB performance loss LGe’s 2-bit HARQ feedback renders 8dB performance loss

Conclusion Adopt basic 2-bit HARQ feedback as mandatory HARQ feedback due to 2.5dB performance gain. Object enhanced 2-bit HARQ feedback as optional HARQ feedback due to at least 5dB performance loss. Detail text proposal is in C80216m-09_0501r2
