1 SOFTBALL Softball looks like Rounders but the rules are different. It is played on a DIAMOND with CONES at each corner. Base 1 Base 2 Base 3 Homebase

2 SOFTBALL The game is played by 2 teams: Those BATTING and those FIELDING. Base 1 Base 2 Base 3 Homebase

3 SOFTBALL THE BATTING TEAM Base 1 Base 2 Base 3 Homebase Batting Team Each player gets 3 chances to hit the ball into play. Out of Play If the ball is hit into play then the batsperson MUST run A ball hit ‘out of play’ is called a FOUL HIT and the batsperson is given another chance.

4 SOFTBALL THE BATTING TEAM Base 1 Base 2 Base 3 Homebase Scoring Runs When the ball is hit into play the batsperson runs to Base 1. They must put their foot on it. If it is a good hit they might try to get to the second Base. They must touch it with their foot. If it is an exceptionally good hit they might try to run round all the Bases.

5 SOFTBALL THE BATTING TEAM Scoring Runs Running round all the bases is called A HOME RUN and will score you 3 runs. (The batsperson should run around the outside of the cones)

6 SOFTBALL THE BATTING TEAM Scoring Runs A batsperson can stop at any base but they CANNOT: Have two people at one base Overtake anyone

7 SOFTBALL THE FIELDING TEAM Getting someone out The fielding team can put someone out by: A full catch Getting the ball to a base before the runner reaches it

8 SOFTBALL THE FIELDING TEAM Getting the whole team out The fielding team can put THE WHOLE TEAM out by: GETTING FOUR PEOPLE IN THE TEAM OUT (This depends on the number in each team.)
