4. 2016/07/084 Fire Engineering SMOKE DETECTION SYSTEM The new Ziton smoke detection system will be installed throughout the new Energy Room with a new control panel which is linked backed to the main smoke detection control panel in the existing Megawatt Park Control Room This system will consist of smoke detectors, manual break glass units, audible sirens and red strobe / flashing lights All wiring for this system to be done in PH30 fire rated cable which is housed in Bosal galvanised conduit.

5. 2016/07/085 Fire Engineering Line relay / interface units shall be installed to : o Shut down the air-conditioning system within the respective fire zone o Sound the fire alarm with visible red strobe lights These interface units shall react from a “double knock” signal from smoke detectors and / or manual fire alarm break glass units All devices and control panels shall be the addressable type This system shall comply with the specifications detailed in the Code of Practice SANS 10139

8. 2016/07/088 Fire Engineering FIRE FIGHTING EQUIPMENT New 30 metre hosereels and portable fire extinguishers which are mounted onto wooden backing boards shall be installed throughout the new Energy Centre 5kg Carbon Dioxide and 9kg Dry Chemical Powder fire extinguishers shall be installed This installation shall be designed and installed in accordance with the National Building Regulations SANS 10400 : 2011

10. 2016/07/0810 Fire Engineering SYMBOLIC FIRE SIGNS New photoluminescent ‘glow in the dark’ symbolic signs which are mounted in Eskom Corporate Gold powder coated frames shall be installed to clearly indicate the positions of the fire equipment, fire escape routes and exit doors (Paint code : Pantone 8004 C; Process : 40C 40M 55Y 5K) All wall mounted signs to be concealed screw fixed and any hanging signs to be supported from steel cables This installation shall comply with SANS 1186 : Part 1 and 5. All signs to include name of manufacturer and SABS permit number

12. 2016/07/0812 Fire Engineering FIRE SEALING All service pipes, conduits, sleeves, cables, A/C ducting or other equipment that penetrates through any floor or fire wall shall be fire stopped by an approved fire retardant sealer to achieve a 60 minute fire rating

13. 2016/07/0813 Fire Engineering FIRE DEPARTMENT SUBMISSION The fire protection plans of the new Energy Centre will be submitted to the City of Johannesburg Fire Department for approval before construction commences On completion of this project, the Fire Department will witness all fire commissioning tests and conduct an inspection of all fire installations in order to issue a fire clearance certificate for this building
