1 MHS Training for Practice STAAR/EOC Eng I (Jan 28) & Eng II (Jan 29)

2 Test Procedures & My Responsibilities All tests must be administered in strict accordance with the instructions contained in the test directions, Testing Guide and Test Duty Schedule.

3 Test Administration Assignments Practice EOC Test Administration & Support Assignments

4 Test Security & Confidentiality  Review the Test Assignment Schedule (available online & via email)  Notify Jean Landry of conflicts by Thurs @ 3pm  All testing personnel must be trained  Your Signed Oath = your Sign in  You may not provide assistance, directly or indirectly, to students during the test (check walls and halls)  Do not change or ask a student to change an answer!

5 Ensure Proper Testing Procedures  30:1 ratio  Walls and Halls – your responsibility  “Testing Do Not Disturb” Place sign on your outside doors  Seating Charts Every adult must sign in with times indicated First and last names for each student Document movement of students during testing Document date and test given

6 Ensure Proper Testing Procedures  Read what the test directions SAY  Answer documents are two-fold Multiple choice scantron sheet Answer booklet for short answers and compositions  Dictionary/Thesaurus can be used throughout the entire test will be delivered to testing rooms prior to testing  Manage time during the 5 hour Practice STAAR/EOC tests with timing script

7 Ensure Proper Testing Procedures  Active monitoring – This is HUGE!!  Use Time Sheet to record START/STOP times, etc.  Students must stay seated and may not talk while others are still testing  Remind students to record answers on answer documents  Only students may erase stray marks  Check both answer docs to be sure all answers are bubbled and writings completed when students turn in tests

8 Ensure Proper Testing Procedures  No translating  No rephrasing  No assisting students  No discussing the test  No leaving the testing room without another trained person taking your place

9 Ensure Proper Testing Procedures  Fire Alarms Exit building as usual Take care of testing materials  No electronic devices No Cell phones No iPods/MP3 players, etc No eBooks (Nooks, Kindles, iPads etc.)  After testing students may read or rest BUT no electronic devices allowed and no textbooks or assignments allowed, PERIOD!  If a student leaves campus, testing cannot be resumed

10 Active Monitoring This is the most important thing during testing! Everyone is responsible for ACTIVE MONITORING Most frequently reported violations:  accepting blank answer documents  failure to detect/prevent student misbehavior

11 Testing Violations  If there is a suspected testing violation, report it immediately!! It is your responsibility to report test violations, better to be safe than sorry  If you are having difficulty with a student, report it immediately!!  Call Command Central at ext. 2542

12 Test Materials Pick Up & Return AD113  Alpha Teachers prepare rooms for testing  1 st period test administrators pick up test materials each testing day  Bins labeled by ROOM # so know your testing room #  Test materials may be returned by any certified teacher

13 Practice STAAR Test Info English I & II EOCs (5 hour time limit)  testing done by Alpha group  Lunch for students will be from 11:00 – 11:30 in testing classrooms  Manage high volume restroom usage during lunch time  Teacher lunches…see Duty/Assignment Schedule @11:08, 12:00, or ½ of your conference period

14 Student Lunch Break (11 - 11:30)  Prior to starting test, take lunch/milk order for those eating school lunch on lunch roster  Administrators will deliver lunches to classrooms  At 11:00, tell students to close test booklets with answer docs inside  Collect all test booklets and pass out lunches  Monitor restroom usage – one at a time  At 11:25, begin returning test booklets  At 11:30, restart testing  This may involve 2 different teachers due to teacher lunch relief

15 We Need YOU!!!!  Study the testing Duty/Assignment documents for Jan 28/29 now, conflicts emailed to Jean Landry by 3pm on Thursday!  Study the Room Relocation sheet Notify your classes of room changes prior to testing days Notify your ‘orphans’ to report to auditorium and sign in Notify Jean of conflicts by Thursday 3pm  ALL are impacted in some way  Know your role and responsibilities  Be prompt to your assigned duties  1 st Period Testing Teachers pick up test materials each testing day, Alpha teachers prepare room for testing  Test materials may be returned by any certified teacher

16 A Few Last Things  Ask questions  Command Central ext. 2542  Control F  Start right away (by 8:20 am), no announcement will be made.  No bells, no announcements
