Colossians 2:6-7

What do we mean when we say this?

…. since we who have been immersed into Christ have made a commitment to Jesus that we should take care to make sure that the way we live our lives reflects the commitment we made to Jesus when we voluntarily gave our lives to Him.

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, established in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with gratitude.

I.BEING ROOTED IN CHRIST

Just as plants draw nourishment from the soil through their roots, so the believers should draw life-giving strength from Christ.

Others fell on the rocky places, where they did not have much soil; and immediately they sprang up, because they had no depth of soil.

But when the sun had risen, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.

I.BEING ROOTED IN CHRIST II.BEING BUILT UP IN CHRIST

Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.

having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone,

And now I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified.

you also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

I.BEING ROOTED IN CHRIST II.BEING BUILT UP IN CHRIST III.HAVING AN ESTABLISHED FAITH IN CHRIST

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, established in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with gratitude.

But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind.

For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

God establishes us, together with you, in a relationship with Christ. He has also anointed us.

In addition, he has put his seal of ownership on us and has given us the Spirit as his guarantee.

I.BEING ROOTED IN CHRIST II.BEING BUILT UP IN CHRIST III.HAVING AN ESTABLISHED FAITH IN CHRIST IV.LIVING WITH AN ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE TOWARD CHRIST

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, established in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with gratitude.

Through Jesus we should always bring God a sacrifice of praise, that is, words that acknowledge him.

Praise completes the circle in which the blessings that flow to us from God return to Him in the form of our praise and adoration.

By taking in the truth of the Word, believers get a strong mind. By living out those truths, they receive full assurance that Christ is who He claimed to be.

Assured of that, they can appropriate the riches that are His legacy to believers, and walk in Him.

As they walk in Him, they will grow in Him and become established in their faith. As a result, they will give praise to God.
