2 What does it mean to be a Title I School? Being a Title I school means receiving additional federal funding (Title I dollars) to supplement the school’s existing programs. These dollars are used for… Providing timely and additional assistance to help students meet challenging content standards. Supplemental staff positions/materials/activities/technology Increasing parental Involvement through meetings/trainings/activities

3 How Does a School Qualify? Based on Poverty Rates (Free and Reduced Lunch Rates) 35% F&R qualifies for Targeted Assistance 40% F&R qualifies for School-Wide Assistance

4 Schools get a per pupil allotment based on their percentage of F&R students (this amount is recalculated every year). The district is also required to reserve funds for pre- determined allotments: 1% parental involvement set-asides 10%-20% support for Focus/Priority Schools

5 Dearborn Title I Schools 31 schools (out of 34) are Title I schools 30 have school-wide programs 1 school is targeted assistance

6 Parental Involvement Parents have the right to be informed and involved in Title I decisions! Join your school School Improvement Team Attend annual Title I Parent Meetings Participate in annual Title I Evaluations
