1 Who am I? Final Exam Review

2 Who am I? I live in a swampy fen; I am a pariah, shunned by all of the Danes. I hate the sounds coming from Heorot hall. I terrorize the Danish people for 12 long years.

3 I am Grendel.

4 Who am I? I seek revenge. I take back what is mine: the bloody arm of my son. I kill Hrothgar’s best friend Aeshere. I fight Beowulf. But it makes no difference. He slays me.

5 I am Grendel’s mother.

6 Who am I? I came to Denmark to earn my name and fame. I have the strength of 30 men in my bare hand. I develop into a wise, generous king in my own country, Geatland.

7 I am Beowulf.

8 Who am I? I am loyal. I do not cower in fear when the dragon breathes his fire. I help Beowulf kill the dragon and am rewarded for my loyalty by being named king.

9 I am Wiglaf.

10 What am I? I am a gift from Unferth I never failed a warrior until Beowulf’s battle against Grendel’s mother I represent a change of heart between Unferth and Beowulf

11 I AM HRUNTING

12 Where am I? TThe most magnificent mead hall in all of Scandinavia. I am a monument to Hrothgar’s greatness. I am where Hrothgar and his warriors meet and celebrate. I am where Bewoulf battles Grendel.

13 HEOROT HALL

14 Who am I? I am Hrothgar’s most beloved friend, and best advisor. I am killed when Grendel’s mother comes to Heorot Hall to seek revenge

15 I am Aeshere

16 Where am I? It takes Beowulf the better part of the day to get here This is where Beowulf finds an ancient sword that belonged to giants. This is where Grendel goes to die

17 Grendel and his mother’s lair in the fen or swamp

18 Who am I? I am the king of the Geats I am Bewoulf’s uncle. I once underestimated Beowulf’s greatness and strength

19 I am Hygelac

20 Who am I? I stole the gem-studded goblet from the dragon’s hoard I am forced to lead Beowulf and his warriors to the dragon’s barrow.

21 I am the thief, the desperate slave I am the 13 th warrior

22 Where am I? I am where the lone survivor of a forgotten race has stored his people’s treasure I am where the dragon has been asleep for 300 years.

23 The dragon’s barrow

24 Who am I? I am jealous when Beowulf first arrives. But I lend him my sword, Hruntling, when he goes into battle with Grendel’s mother. I never learn that the sword was useless in that battle.

25 I am Unferth.

26 Who am I? I represent avarice. I am awakened by a servant stealing a gem- studded goblet. I go on a rampage, burning houses in Geatland, even Beowulf’s. My poisonous bite kills Beowulf. But Wiglaf and Beowulf kill me.

27 II am the dragon.
