Conclusions Insurance medicine has long lagged behind the evidence-based advances observed in clinical medicine Evidence-based insurance medicine is the basis of best practice and quality assurance The framework of the international Cochrane Collaboration can facilitate to launch and disseminate evidence based insurance medicine It will require dedicated insurance physicians, interested policy makers and skilled researchers to make it work. Next major step forward would be an international database of insurance medicine research. We plan and pilot. Get ownership of this vision ! 12
