1. + Multiple Genre Lit Circle Project Dystopian Literature Circles

2. + Journal Entry If you had to rate your book on a scale of one to ten (ten being the highest), what would you give it? Why? What are things you liked/ didn’t like about the book?

3. + What do I mean by “genre”? In this case, genre isn’t talking about the type of story it is (romance, drama, mystery, etc.), but the form that it comes in Examples: An advertisement A letter A diary entry/ entries Poetry Newspaper/ magazine article A timeline An invitation An obituary A cartoon strip

4. + So what is a multiple genre project? A project where you tell the story that you have just read using multiple genres Your group will be working together to tell/ analyze the story you just read using multiple genres You will be compiling these genres together to submit your overall project

5. + Question #1: When is this due? This project will be due Monday, January 12 th at the beginning of the hour You will get the ENTIRE week we get back in the library to work with your group members on this project (January 5- 9)

6. + Question #2: How many genres do we have to do? In order to receive full credit, you need to have two times as many genres as you have people in your group: So, if your group has 8 people, you need 16 genres If your group has 5 people, you need 10 genres

7. + Question #3: How do we know what genres to choose? You will be provided with a list with these genre ideas for you to choose from Remember, some of these genres lend themselves better to some books more so than others If you think of a genre that’s NOT on the list, run it by me first You need to have at least ONE visual genre in your group

8. + Question #4: How do we turn in all of these genres? You will be provided with a binder. Your job is to get all of your genres together, and place them in this binder. If you have a video/ other type of genre that will not fit in a binder, see me and we will figure out how to turn in these types of genres

9. + Question #5: What should the binder have in it? A cover page with the book’s name, your group members names, and an image that represents the book (this page may be done digitally) A table of contents that directs readers through your multi- genre project The appropriate amount of genres based on how many people are in your group

10. + Question #5: I hate group projects. How do we hold everyone accountable? My recommendation first off would be to assign two genres to every person in your group At the end, you will be asked to evaluate each of your group members The score that you give them will affect their overall summative score That means that someone who works well in their group can receive a higher score than someone who does nothing in their group

11. + Question #6: How many points is this worth? Attached to the list of genre ideas is a rubric Look at each section and make sure to understand the distribution of points

12. + Your goal for the rest of today... Figure out which genres you would like to do Figure out who is doing which of these genres (delegate work) Fill out the planning form given and submit this before the end of the day
