3 S SS Srebarna Nature Reserve  It is Bulgaria’s largest river lake  It is the breeding home of 99 species of birds, 24 of which are rare or endangered. Some 80 other bird species migrate and overwinter there, including 10% of the world’s Dalmatian pelicans  The avifauna is very rich: 233 species, some 52,350 being waterbirds  41 species of mammals

4 Persina Nature Park The park is unique for Bulgaria and is the only on the Bulgarian riverside of the Danube The park's treasure is the birds-over 170 birds have been described (pelicans, cormorants, red- breasted geese, mallards, sea eagles) Otter, hamster, deer, wild boar, wildcat, polecat, and fox are among the mammals that commonly inhabit the park

5 Roussenski Lom Nature Park  The forest consist of mid- European species-Dwarf Almond, Almond-leafed Pear, Christ Thorn, Mahaleb Cherry, Manna (Flowering) Ash, Turkey Oak, Common Lilac, Sumac  The wild life is endless in the diversity-22 species of fish, by 9 species of amphibians, 3 species of turtles, 9 species of lizards and 7 species of snakes, 62 species of mammals, 22 species of bats, 20 species of rodents  Birds-rock dwellers, Egyptian vulture, Golden Eagle, Red- rumped Swallow, Black woodpecker, Towny owl

6 Durankulak Lake IIt is one of the best- preserved coastal wetlands in Bulgaria with international importance for the protection of over 260 endemic, rare and endangered species of plants and animals

7 Ropotamo reserve It includes several small reserves – Water lilies, The snake island, Arkutino and Sea warm wood The splendid dense forest and the water-lilies make it a magnificent spot The snake island-several sorts of cactus, a variety of snake and bird species Arkutino-a swamp-lagoon with a lot of reed, rush and water – lily The Sea warm wood reserve is famous for its warm wood deposit, used in the pharmaceutics

8 Kamchia Nature Reserve  258 birds, 32 of which nesting (66% of all the bird species in Bulgaria) are found there  25 fish species, 14 amphibian and reptile species and 26 small mammals inhabit the river and its branches  Kamchia dense forest is the only habitat of the Bulgarian endemite "Cardamine tuberoza" and another seven that are listed in the Red Book  Bird watcher can enjoy seeing a sea eagle or owl, black stork or heron  The hardly accessible marshlands and firths are home to the rare swamp white and yellow water lily

9 Taukliman reserve (Birds' Bay)  It is famous for its magnificent small beaches, warm mineral water, and numerous rocky islands  Tuzlata salt lake- its bed is covered with hydrogen sulfide, which has good healing properties  Rare bird and reptile species, included in the Red Book of Bulgaria

10 Veleka River  The river meanders through the virgin nature of the Strandzha mountain before flowing into the Black Sea  Its waters are rich in fish  Its wild banks give shelter to game, with field birds, waterfowl and raptors

11 Pomorie Lake  A hyper-saline lake on the Black Sea coast, most of which is utilized for salt production  Because of the high salt concentration, the lake features some very specific plant and animal species  A specific water lily has been included in the Bulgarian Red Book of endangered species and can be seen only there  A total of 204 bird species nest in the region, 59 of which included in the Bulgarian Red Book  Several migration routes, among which Via Pontica, pass over Pomorie lake

12 Atanasovsko Lake AA salt coastal lake, located in direct proximity of the Black Sea KKnown for the diversity of flora and fauna and is surrounded by swamps and canals that drain the whole local basin into the sea IIt is divided into two by a strip of sand in the middle TThe lake’s north part, a nature reserve since 1980, is connected by a canal to the Black Sea, while the smaller south one that is mostly used for salt production IIt is one of the key ornithological locations in the country, with 314 species of birds being present, 70% of all in Bulgaria. 12 of them are globally endangered IIt is on the important Via Pontica bird migration route

13 Lake Varna  Lake Varna is the largest by volume and deepest liman or lake along the Bulgarian Black sea coast
