States and empires that cannot be found on a current world political map have textbook page references indicating “map” or “info.” In instances where a map of the state/empire is available in your textbook, “map” is noted along with the page number on which the map may be found; when a map is not available, “info” is noted along with a page number on which you may find information telling you where the state/empire was located. If no note is made after the state/empire, you may use either your textbook or an atlas to help you locate the state/empire. You also need to label the Eastern and Western Hemispheres. Background Information: By 1500 A.D. (C.E.), major states and empires had developed in various regions of the world. Some of these major states and empires are listed below. Look over the list and you will notice some of the states are major players in the world today; others can no longer be found on a current world political map. Directions: Using the attached maps, mark the location of each of the five world religions in on the first map and in contemporary times on the second map. Create a colored key to assist you in showing the religions’ locations. Please note that some religions share the same area; therefore, you will need to account for this when creating your colored key. (Note: Unless you find a map that shows that precise location of each of the world religions in 1500, you will not be perfect labeling your map. That’s okay!
