At this booth our goal is to share insight and data collected regarding common preventable disease and ways to Build a Healthier you, during this presentation we will : Identify the 5 common disease that affects both the United States and Worldwide Identify common behaviors and/or habits that may be contributing to the spread of the disease Compare the similarities and differences in situation/circumstances between the US and Worldwide Identify the 7 dimensions of Wellness Identify common behavior and/or habits that may be able to contribute to the decline of the disease Overview of booth information

Stress from Work Tobacco Use Overweight/Bad Diet Air Quality and Pollution Excessive consumption of Alcohol Un-safe home or work environment Drug Use/Abuse There is a quote by an author unknown that says “Your body is the vehicle in which you travel throughout life; treat it like the precious entity it is”. This slide does not need any further cementation, it is straight forward and self explanatory the very things we take pleasure in, need or have a hard time avoiding is hurting us (3). Situation/circumstances at a closer glace: the comparison from the us to the world… United states Worldwide Tobacco/Alcohol Use Lack of physical activity Lack of a healthy diet Community does not have healthy resources i.e. a fresh market, farmers market, vegetable stand Financial Class/Low Income Air Pollution (Automobiles/Buses) Careless life choices (misuse abuse drugs illegal/prescribe, not wearing seatbelts, slip and falls, etc.) Work related stress not taking time away to decompress Readily availability to unhealthy food, snacks and carbonated drinks Overweight/Obesity Do not take full advantage of social service assisted programs i.e. meals on wheels, medical transportation, prescription assistance Under Weight Immunizations/Vaccinations not readily available or accessible depending on your financial class Tobacco/Alcohol Use Lack of physical Activity Lack of social service resources Air Pollution (Industrial/toxins) Lack of sustainable Work Unsafe Drinking water Lack of healthy diet Community does not have healthy resources i.e. a fresh marker, farmers market, vegetable stand Financial class/low income *blue reflects the same issues. *gold reflect similar but different. Environmental Physical Emotional Social Occupational Spiritual Intellectual Reference (3).The habits and behaviors that contribute in a negative or positive can fall into multiple categories within the 7 dimensions of wellness. 7 Defining the 7 dimension of wellness..
Physical Dimension Operation of the body; strength, flexibility, composition and endurance Intellectual Dimension Stimulation of your mind by learning and partaking in creative and mental activities Emotional Dimension Adjusting to life circumstances and the ability to maintain relationships with a partner and your community Spiritual Dimension Believing in yourself (self-esteem), having believe in principles and values, belief in a higher be Social Dimension Getting along with others, connecting and building bonds. Having close relationships with family and friends, involved with the community Occupational Dimension A work place that support work life balance will aide in a personal being content. With the majority the day if you are not working from home it is spent at the office, choosing a career/job that interest you will lessen the blow of you have to be there more than you are home Environmental Dimension The preservation and protection of plants and wildlife, tap back into natural resources for healthier environment around us Reference (3). 8 Take your health into your own hands by embracing a few prevention functions:
wellness Annual Health Exams Smoke Cessation Limit or remove recreational drugs, and excessive alcohol usage from your routine Manage and Maintain any Diagnosed condition(s) Annual Wellness Screenings Exercise Balanced Diet Take vacations from work Engage in Educational, Spiritual, Arts and/or Social activities Become involved with community service, activities and/or philanthropy Maintain genuine relationships In closing…as mentioned in a previous slide your body is the vehicle you move through life in. Take care of it and it will take care of you, good health and wellness are the essential ingredients to a longer and happy life span (4).
