3 Introduction Background information –NETC@RDS is serving as an experimental test bed for the electronification of the EHIC First steps –Project results have already been considered by EU/EFTA working bodies (e.g. CASSTM Ad hoc Group eEHIC, CEN WS eEHIC) Next steps –NETC@RDS is aiming to include the developed services in the EESSI framework for electronic data exchange following the new European Regulation 883/04

4 Common eEHIC WSDL Background information –Development and implementation of common web services are required from the projects NETC@RDS and TEN4Health Evolution –First WSDL was based upon the NETC@RDS / EHIC data set –Enhancements by adding information needed by TEN4Health Coordination with the Project Officer –Technical meeting in Brussels early February –Common web service specification was finalized in the meeting –Stable and agreed version was distributed by mid February

5 Implementing the Web Services First steps –Setting up of a reference implementation in Austria) –Implementation and test by early adaptors (AT, DE, NL) Next steps –Tests by all NETC@RDS partners –Implementation in all partner countries –Transition from applets to web services Final goal –Upgrade of the whole NETC@RDS system –Integration into national systems

8 Foreseen Enhancements (1) CWA eEHIC –CEN WS eEHIC initiated by the EC in 2007 –CWA contains web service specifications for eEHIC services –Final WS voted in favor of the CWA on March 10th Next steps –CEN will publish the CWA as an official document in May or June –Partners are already now checking a transition towards CWA web services Final goal –EC recommends the CWA as the new eEHIC specification –NETC@RDS already supports the specification

9 Foreseen Enhancements (2) EESSI –EESSI (Electronic Exchange of Social Security Information) is establishing an infrastructure throughout Europe –Aimed at connecting institutions at European level Next steps –A contractor will provide reference implementation –Specifications for EESSI web services available this month Final goal –EESSI interconnects institutions on a country-by-country basis –NETC@RDS infrastructure is interconnected with EESSI (or part of the national EESSI implementation)
