4 4 Plans To Help Prevent/Reduce Physical Aggression

5 Make the Student Aware of Concerns (Plan A) 1. Define what is considered aggressive (mild vs. severe) and a cooperative act to go with each 2. Consistency is key (mild consequence for a mild aggressive behavior) consequence should parallel the behavior 3. Reinforcing cooperative behavior will reduce aggression 4. Increase praise of cooperative behavior

6 Teach Students Skills To Prevent Aggression (Plan B) 1. Consistent with inappropriate behaviors 2. Provide students with lessons on being cooperative (create a small group or ask for assistance from an administrator or school counselor) 3. Role play or review real situations; give “homework” for students to practice skills learned 4. Reinforce appropriate behaviors 3-1 Positive to Negative reinforcement

7 Collaborating with Outside Resources When Aggression is Intentional (Plan C) 1. Follow ideas in Plan A and Plan B 2. Consistency with inappropriate behavior 3. Modify the student’s day to reduce the chance of severe acts ( i.e. aggression in the cafeteria could be reduced through use of assigned seating) 4. Evaluation plan
