2 サツカー Soccer in Japan started in High Schools and Universities in the mid 19th century. Soccer is a very popular sport in the country of Japan, many people start at an early age.The Japanese people are big supporters of the J.League.

3 J.League The most popular soccer league in Japan. 2 major leagues, 18 teams in each. The J. League board had to goals for the future. 1.To have 100 clubs in the league by their 100th season. 2.To separate teams and produce another Division.

6 やきゅう Baseball was introduced to japan in 1872,By horace wilson, who taught at the Kaisei School in Tokyo. Hiroshi Hiraoka, who was in United States studying engineering, introduced the game to his co-workers at Japan national railways in 1878.He created the first baseball team Now baseball is one of the most popular sports in japan. The high school teams have 2 annual tournaments nation wide.accumulating at a final match at Hanshin Koshien Stadium in Nishinomiya. It’s a common site to see the losing teams players coming off the field in tears after being elimntaed by the tournament by a loss

11 Sumo Wrestling In a sumo bout, a wrestler attempts to force his opponent out of a circular ring. The Sport originated in Japan where the sport is practiced professionally. There are six grand tournaments annually. A sumo wrestler is also known as a Rikishi.

13 Traditions Wrestlers are required to live in sumo training stable known as Hehya. All Their daily activities such as eating and clothing are dictated by strict traditions. Wrestlers throw salt onto the ring to purify it, before fighting.

14 The Bout The matches are in a ring 4.55 m in diameter and 16.26 square meters. Wrestlers enter the stadium in seperate wings of the stadium to make sure they dont see there opponent before the match. Before the match wrestlers swat facing each other to show that they don’t have any wepon’s.

15 North American perspective Most North Americans considersumo wrestling as joke. Some people realize theimportance of sumo wrestlingto Japan and respect it.
