3. New Challenges The web and movements toward open access scholarship have changed scholarly communication. There is an abundance of scholarship available on the web, often obscuring discoverability. Collaboration and networking are increasingly important for acquiring grant funding and publication, requiring new modes of communication between scholars. New modes of communication require new technologies and methodologies.

4. PressForward was founded in 2011 to research these challenges and develop new tools and methods for dealing with changes to digital communications. We have found that there are two separate but parallel questions presented by these changes: How do I share work? How do I keep up with the work of others? Different users will have different needs.

5. User 1: The Overwhelmed Researcher Asks: How to keep up with the research in my field? How to share the material I think is important? How to participate in these conversations?

6. User 2: The Student Learning a Field Asks: Who are the major players in the field? What are the controversial issues and approaches? How do I make myself known?

7. User 3: Organized Collaborators Asks: How do we, as a group, stay abreast of related research? How do I share relevant research with my colleagues? How do we make invested parties aware of our work?

8. User 4: The Digital Professor Asks: How can I engage my students in a conversation about their work online? How can I share appropriate articles with my students? How can I pull together all the work my students do online into one place?

9. Scholcomm on the Web The ABCs of sharing scholarly communication on the open web. Attribution - Make clear that the content is from elsewhere and include a link. Bounce - The original source should receive the readers and altmetrics Contextualize - Ensure that your selection process is transparent.

10. PressForward answers these questions and acknowledges best practices with a tool that performs three separate, but interrelated, functions: 1.Gathers information to you 2.Facilitates collaborative curation and management 3.Puts information out to the world
