3. Why learn that? Politeness is a key culture concept when meeting Deaf people. ASL is different than English. Knowing more about ASL helps make you a fluent signer.

4. What will I be expected to do? Participate in class activities –I will work during class to learn new vocabulary and understand new concepts. Homework Reading/Response –I will read about a girl who was forced to stop depending on her hearing and start depending on the visual cues around her. Projects –I will participate in one project that shows my skills related to ASL sentence structure and glossing. 20/20 Interview Test –I will show my knowledge of ASL sentence structure and politeness in a test style format.
