1 Week 1

2  Insurance fee  If something happens to you on Chapter property, we will cover it  Activation Fee  To register with Delta Upsilon International Headquarters (IHQ)  Total of $320.00

3  Dues are usually around $600-700 per semester, out of house  Rent + Dues for living in house ~$2000-2100 average

4  You must earn a MINIMUM 2.6 GPA (minimum of 12 credit hours) your pledge semester Take pride in your grades!  You must complete 5 PROCTORED study hours a week.  Missing 2 weeks consecutively, or 3 weeks total, you will not be initiated.

5  Conduct yourself in a gentlemanly, cordial manner  Respect for women (refrain from degrading terms, e.g..)  Relations with guests  Relations with members – come to me, or another trusted member with issues.

6  Not all about drinking and socializing  These activities are very entertaining  Grades come first, reminder that you are paying to get educate  Use the various resources of Delta Upsilon  Study groups, mentors, networking, volunteering, cultural events, etc.

7  What is hazing?  Any action that makes someone feel threatened or uncomfortable, or causes physical or psychological harm.  There is more to hazing, this is a simplified definition.  If you have to ask if it’s hazing, it probably is.  Hazing will NOT be tolerated within Delta Upsilon  Report incidents of hazing to me, the President, or to.. Hazing Hotline: (888) NOT-HAZE, or (888) 668-4293

8  Serve as special guides/mentors throughout little brother’s DU career  There to talk with regarding issues, whether personal, academic, financial, social, or any other.  Think of 3-4 actives you would want as a big brother  If at any time you want to switch big brothers, it is your responsibility to inform the VP AME (me)

9  What do the four principles mean to you?

10  Justice  Implies judgement  Concept of careful consideration  No special favors or privileges, no tolerance to prejudice.

11  Common ideas of honesty, integrity, and compassion for the fellowman  Continual improvement of oneself

12  Essentially:  Going out and being well culturally rounded  Attend events, expand your cultural horizons  Examples?

13  Compassion  Respect  Brotherly love  the ability of forgiveness which unites our brothers in a common bond

14  Official ceremony that signifies the passage from pledgeship to active member status  There is always an alumnus speaker  Parents and guests are allowed into our initiation ceremony  This semester: 1 st right: Friday, November 20 th, 2015

15  Ways that you can improve the house  This project is thought of and funded by your class  Has to be completed by the end of the semester  Must be approved by AME

16  Orange cards  DU international informational sheets  Associate member dues to be paid ASAP

17  President- represents your pledge class  Vice President- is president when president not here  Treasurer- holds the money

20  Read Chapter 1 (Delta U and You) and Chapter 6 (The Heritage of Delta Upsilon, p. 23-55) from The Cornerstone  Be prepared to discuss next meeting
