Average reimbursement of $171 for the initial AWV and $121 for each year thereafter.

A Physical is for the current state of health; the AWV is a predictor of future health.
Goal of the AWV is to keep the Medicare patient happier, healthier for a longer period of time.
The Annual Wellness Visit is FREE every year whereas a Physical is not covered after the first year.

5. Question: Who may perform the Annual Wellness Visit?
The AWV is an informational gathering session, to be perform by a medical professional, a member of the physician’s team.
Includes any certified or licensed medical professional such as a registered dietician, nutritional counselor, Certified Medical Assistant or nurse such as an LPN or RN.
The Physician must be on the premises, but does not need to be in the exam room.
