6 For how long was your business closed? Total Respondents is 38.

7 For how long was your business closed? Individual Responses Of the 42% that responded other, which was a total of 19 respondents: - 6 of these properties were not closed, - one was a new property, - three properties were closed for 5 months, - one was closed for 11 months, - one was closed for three months from August thru October, - another was closed from July thru December, - another was closed for three weeks since the end of September thru to mid October, - another was closed for October, November thru to mid December, - one normally closes for three weeks in October, - another closed August and September, - another states that they continue to be closed, - another closed all high season due to lack of bookings, - another stated that they did not close as they had promotions of free trips during the months of October thru January

9 What months were you closed? Of the 23 respondents that replied to this question: - three responded that they did not close, - 5 closed in September, - one closed three weeks in October, - Many hoteliers closed for periods of four to six months during the months of May thru October of 2009 - Other hoteliers had to close for business from July thru November due to weak or no bookings for that period. - one was a new property which recently opened in December 2009, - an approximate 4 hoteliers have closed for business since January 2010 and will remain close thru to April 2010 due to no bookings. - one hotelier remains closed since October 2009

11 Why did you choose to close your business? Of the seven respondents that responded to this question: - one responded that Air fare to Belize is too high for clients to travel in the summer or winter but because they are freezing in the north, they will come in the winter but not in the summer - One was away in the US May-Aug. - One responded that they would close during this period as these months are always slow-hurricane season - 2 responded that they had no bookings so they closed during this period

12 Two major airlines which fly to Belize recently offered discounted fares to Belize, did you notice any change in your bookings due to these fare sales? 146 Respondents to this question.

13 Of the 15 respondents that had comments to this question: - Six hoteliers responded that they did have an increase in booking but is not sure if it’s a result of the lower airfare as not guest commented on it. - Seven hoteliers said they saw a big difference in bookings with American offering discount Jan-March - A few hoteliers mentioned that airfares are ridiculously high- discounts were for a very short period and covered limited dates- airlines must be encouraged to offer more discount fares Two major airlines which fly to Belize recently offered discounted fares to Belize, did you notice any change in your bookings due to these fare sales?

14 Is there any other event or matter which has had an impact (negative or positive) on your bookings/occupancy rate lately: Of the 76 respondents to this question: - Most of the respondents felt that the overall downfall in the economy has played a major role on the impact of visitors willingness to travel. With the increase in airfare to Belize as a result of the height in fuel prices, most hoteliers have had to offer large discounts to packages as an incentive to attract potential visitors. - Most respondents highlighted that they have had to increase their investment in advertisements and have also increased their presence on the Internet by signing on to Facebook and Twitter. They acknowledge that with Belize having a presence on Trip Advisor has helped tremendously with increasing our presence on the Internet. - An average of 20 respondents believe that the increase in crime has had and continues to have a negative impact on bookings as tourists are robbed more than often in the past couple of months. - A few hoteliers feel that the increase in snow storms has helped boost bookings as they have had an increase in last minute reservations
