A substitute –“it will be accepted on your behalf to make atonement for you” (Leviticus 1:4) “Without defect” – Leviticus 1:3, 10; 3:1; 4:3 etc. –the best for God Blood must be shed –“the life is in the blood” (Leviticus 17:11) In a particular place –“You must not worship the Lord your God in their way. But you are to seek the place the Lord your God will choose…… To that place…. bring your …. offerings. (Deut. 12:4-5) The life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar; it is the blood that makes atonement for one’s life. (Leviticus 17:11)
