11 11 Close to 35% of McCombs BBAs participate in a study abroad experience Highest percentage across UT Campus/Departments Several weeks in length - no “study tour” model Enormous Short Term Summer Abroad Summer 2013 – first BBA program filled within one week, all programs full by November Summer 2014 – first BBA program filled within 4 hours, all programs full within two days of open enrollment Strong Support amongst faculty with both exchanges and department/faculty-led programming Recent faculty panel to new students/parents “best thing you can do during your undergraduate studies” GBLI – 2013 was largest program to date Significant intercultural management skills/experience gained in short amount of time Successes to Date

12 12 Ongoing Challenges Lack of capacity to add more programs (staff and resource constraints) – highly intensive work for short term program coordinator Academic restrictions/barriers prevent many students from studying abroad long term Excessive demand for programs where 1 st year students are eligible Emphasis on internships and recruiting makes going abroad to some partner schools a challenge Short Term Programs highly dependent on faculty and program staff – risk management Administrative hurdles related to UT policies and practices Shrinking classes and budgets throughout McCombs

13 13 Moving Forward  Changing Short Term Program Enrollment (no longer first come- first serve, can’t meet demand)  Additional Programs – only if additional staff are allocated to administer them  Expansion of schools coming to GBLI in Austin  Regional expansion of exchange partners (Middle East, Africa, Asia)
