1 Insight Benchmarking for Excellence Jill Pringle Professional Advisor

2 Insight (Launched in September 2014)
The online benchmarking tool designed to help bring about improvements for learners in the senior phase (S4 to S6). It is a professional tool for secondary schools and local authorities to identify areas of success and where improvements can be made. Identify areas for whole school Improvement Planning In this example – Improving outcomes for highest attaining 20% Understand how department planning /classroom teaching contributes to improving outcomes for this group of young people In this example- Curriculum – do courses and programmes meet needs L+T – are classroom teachers encouraged and supported to provide learning programmes with appropriate pace and challenge, higher order thinking skills, progression, opportunities for independent learning etc.

(previous experience of Insight’s predecessor) Classroom teachers need to take more ownership If we are going to improve outcomes for young people – the focus should always be centred around planning for good quality and now data intelligent Learning and Teaching.
