3 Audrey Hepburn 4th-May-1929 / 20th-January-1993 British actress and humanitarian 1992. She was awarded the Presindential Medal of Freedom in recognition of her work as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador

4 Joseph Victor Anthony Ruston He was born in Uzice (1889-1980) Baroness Ella van Heemstra She was a Dutch (1900-1984) They married in September 1926 Then they moved back to Europe

5 HER CHILDHOOD 1935. Her mother took her children to Arnhem 1937. Ella & Audrey moved to Kent They relocated her back home in Arnhem. Word War II. The Netherlands would be neutral and be spared a German attack

6 1940. She adopted the pseudonym Edda van Heemstra She suffered: malnutrition, developed acute anaemia, respiratory problems and oedema. 1944. She had became a ballet dancer

7 HER CAREER 1948. She appeared for the first time on film She travelled to London 1967. She decided to devote more time to her family and acted only occasionally
