Bible Survey Notes The Work of Jesus Christ

I. Jesus Christ restores humanity into the image bearers of God we were intended to be. (Romans 8:28-30, I Cor. 15) through his work of:

1. Birth: God and humanity were united in Jesus (He became our representative and God's representative) (John 1:1 & 14) 2. Ministry: God revealed the truth about Himself and his will for humanity through the teachings and miracles of Jesus. (John 14:5-12, John 20:30-31)

3. Death: By His crucifixion, Jesus became a sacrifice to God for humanity. (Hebrews 10:1-10, Col. 1:13, Rom. 5:6-11) 4. Resurrection: By Jesus' victory over death He gives humanity the everlasting life of God (John 11:25, Col. 3:1-4)

5. Ascension: Jesus has begun His rule of the universe for His people and made it possible for the Holy Spirit to begin His work in humanity (Eph. 1:17-23, John 16:5- 15) 6. Return: Jesus completes His victory over sin and death, bringing a New Creation into being for humanity (II Thess. 1:5-10)

Through all of these acts of Jesus Christ working together, human beings, by grace through faith, are being and will be remade into Christ’s likeness [LIKE GOD], adopted by the Holy Spirit as sons and daughters of God [IN GOD], imaging God now [WITH GOD] and later perfectly in a perfect world when God’s Mission is complete! AMEN!
