1 the PSI protium gas filling system (status report by Claude Petitjean to the Gatchina collaboration meeting June 14-17) Main components of the PSI gas system: - Alu vessel with TPC, heating jacket used up to 120 C - high vacuum pumping system (dry forevacuum + turbo pump) - main pumping tube with penning gauge and 10 bar valve to UHV recipient - UHV recipient contains: - ionisation gauge (10 -3 to 10 -9 mbar), pirani gauge (<10 -3 mbar) - mass spectrometer (very useful for gas analysis and leak searches) - valves connecting to gas handling system - gas handling system contains: - three 10-liter high pressure stainless steel bottles - two hydride beds for protium storage (capacity 550 & 750 stp liter) - Palladium filter for producing ultra clean protium gas (+1 spare) - Whatman protium generator (from Canadian <1ppm depleted water) - three digital pressure transducers - 2μ gas filter to avoid dust entering the vessel during filling - Zeolite pressurizer (capacity 100 stp liter, used by Gatchina crew only)
