1 EARLY CONFESSIONS OF FAITH Apostles’ CreedI believe in God the Father, Almighty; Maker of Heaven and Earth… Smyrna (180 AD) We also know in truth one God, Irenaeus (185 AD) …in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are in them; Tertullian (190 AD) …in one only God omnipotent, the Creator of the universe, Hippolytus (200 AD) “Do you believe in God the Father Almighty?” Marcellus (341 AD) I believe in God the Father Almighty.
