2 What is legal – quiz Decide if the statement is legal or illegal 1.19-year-old female having sexual intercourse with her 14-year-old boyfriend. 2.12-year-old female performing oral sex on an 18-year- old male. 3.13-year-old male being shown a pornographic film by a 34-year-old. 4.21-year-old female having a sexual relationship with her 15-year-old girlfriend. 5.A professional photographer encouraging a 13-year-old female to pose naked for sexy photographs. ILLEGAL

3 6. 16-year-old male and an 18-year-old male having a consensual sexual relationship. 7. 43-year-old man impersonating a 15-year-old while talking on the internet to a 14-year old girl. The man arranges to meet her with the intention of starting a sexual relationship. 8. 17-year-old female living with her 28-year-old girlfriend. 9. 14-year-old female being chatted up at a bus stop by a 30-year-old male, who tells her she looks like she should be a model. 10. 6 What is CSE? Child Sexual Exploitation ‘ Someone taking advantage of you sexually, for their own benefit. Through threats, bribes, violence, humiliation or by telling you that they love you, they will have the power to get you to do sexual things for their own or other people’s enjoyment.’

7 Child Sexual Exploitation There are different ways in which young people are drawn into CSE. Brainstorm in you table groups. Push/pull factors – What things might push someone into CSE? – What things might pull someone into CSE?

8 Models of CSE A.Party model B.Grooming/befriending C.Boyfriend/pimp D.Peer on peer E.Organised trafficking 1. Victims are moved through gangs of (usually) men between towns and coerced into sex. 2. Use of inappropriate power over victim, friendship starts. 3. Gatherings are organised with lots of drink and drugs. 4. A seemingly consensual relationship develops but turns abusive. 5. Someone of the same age. Can you match the model to the description?
