4 What is Home Base? North Carolina’s suite of digital tools including a student information system, instructional improvement system and an Educator Effectiveness System among others. IIS tools are intended to provide additional opportunities for students to gain access to resources to aid in learning

5 Agenda Students and parents have access to grades, assignments, test scores, schedules, etc. Home Base is also where students can submit and store work, turn in assignments, collaborate and share insights with other classmates as well as access digital resources. ALL IN ONE PLACE!

24 Digital Content Teachers have access to over 100,000 instructional materials, aligned to the NC Standard Course of Study in Home Base. Content includes unit plans, lesson plans, instructional resources and assessment items. Digital Content is a rapid changing/evolving marketplace – exploring digital content writ large as part of Digital Learning Plan

26 Schoolnet Updates Successfully Upgraded to v 17.0 –New features in assessment and item creation (new checklist item type added as well) –iOS compatible up to iOS 9.0.2 Governor’s Teacher Network materials are now available! –Over 10,000 instructional materials that were created by NC teachers (filter for Publisher “GTN” in the NC Materials tab)

36 © 2012 RMAGENCY.COM SM Additional Professional Development Opportunities Continue planning for experiences that can influence a broader audience and reach the teacher level as often as possible. The Home Base team is also planning for additional internal professional learning for DPI staff to expand the knowledge base of tools in Home Base at the department level to allow for better support for users at the LEAs and schools. Continue meeting with Regional Home Base User Groups and to expand the groups in regions that have not been as active in the past (modeling effective regional groups and making sure to meet the needs within each individual region) Involve more staff at the LEA or School level, such as Instructional Technology Facilitators (ITFs), HR directors and make sure they are kept up to date on the latest information about Home Base as they will continue to play a bigger role at the local level in the success of Home Base
