2. 12 th JANUARY: THE NATIONAL YOUTH DAY Dear Friends, United Nations were declared Year 1985 as “International Youth Year” and during that time our Government was declared that Swami Vivekananda as a National Youth Leader and his birth day 12th January will be observed as “National Youth Day”. Since then we are observing 12th January as National Youth Day. Today we call it as International Youth Day, as what we can understand this from his works and message. It’s significance as on world today as we see from Mr. Arnold J Toynbee 'World famous Historian -- " Today we are still living in this transition chapter of world's history, but it is already becoming clear that chapter which had a Western beginning will have to have an Indian ending if it is not to end in the self-destruction of the human race. In the present age, the world has been united on the material plane by Western technology, But this Western skill has not only `Annihilated Distance': it has armed the peoples of the world with weapons of devastating power at a time when they have been brought to point-blank range of each other without yet having learnt to know and love each other. At this supremely dangerous moment in human history, the only way of salvation for mankind is an Indian way. The Emperor Ashoka's and the Mahatma Gandhi's principle of non-violence and Sri Ramakrishna’s testimony to the harmony of religions ; here we have the attitude and the spirit that can make it possible for the human race to grow together into a single family and in the Atomic Age, this is the only alternative to destroying ourselves.“ A Voice : –I belong as much as to the INDIA as to the WORLD. –Bold is my message to the WEST but bolder is my message to the EAST my beloved countrymen. –My idea that can be put into single words-the high ideal Upanishads to translate in to simple English and scattered them through Out the World so that even a child can understand it. –If there is one word that you find coming like bomb from in the Upanishads, bursting like a bomb- shell upon the masses of ignorance, it is the word, fearlessness. –Ye are the children of God, the sharers of immortal bliss, holy and perfect beings. Ye divinities on earth- sinners! It is sin to call a man so; it is a standing libel on human nature. Come up, O lions, and shake off the delusion that you are sheep; you are souls immortal, sprits free, blest and eternals. –Men men these are wanted, everything else will be ready. But Strong, vigorous, believing young man sincere to the backbone is wanted. A hundred such and the world become revolutionized”.

AKHIL BHARAT VIVEKANANDA YUVA MAHAMANDAL THE IDEA : 1.‘No nation is Great or Good, because Parliament enacts this or that, because its men are great and good.’ 2.‘Men, men -these is wanted; everything else will be ready.’ “So make man first.’ 3.‘When there will be such men (real men) how long it will take to drive away famines etc from the land?’ 4.We must have life-building, man-making, character-making, assimilation of ideas. 5.‘The first great thing to accomplish is to establish a character.’ 6.‘Therefore first make Character- that is the highest duty to perform.’ 7.‘Let the lotus of your character be full blown, and the results will follow. 8.‘It is best work among youth in whom lies our hope.’ 9.“Be and Make. Let this be our motto.’ 10.The whole secret lies in organization, accumulation of power, Co-ordination of wills. Push on with the Organization’ From these and similar ideas of Swami Vivekananda was born the “MAHAMAMDAL” in 1967, in Calcutta. It has now about a hundred centers in different States of India. Its members are neither to leave their home nor studies, nor normal avocations, but to offer only their surplus energy, time and if possible money for this work. The Mahamandal makes no discrimination on grounds of Religion, Caste or Creed and stands for Harmony of Religions and National Integration.

10. HANDLING HUMAN ENERGY- THE YOUTH POWER How it will help us as an individuals and uplifting our motherland? In brief here is my some analysis Society means collection of individual. If individuals are changed the society is bound to change. If we see in the history when there is more number of strong, vigorous, believing young man sincere to the backbone the social reform has taken place. Our entire big plan is getting failed due to lack of proper man. There are two method of social reconstruction one is preventive and another is curative. Preventative is always better than curative. The bacteria and virus are always be their in the air. It will attack to the bodies those who are weak but it can not attack the strong body. The degradation of a society takes place when the peoples are weak. If we make ourselves strong then foreign power will not be in a position to exploit us. To make a strong society the individuals of the society to be make strong. If it takes place the social raneassau will takes place automatically? In statistics 20% of the total population is youth population. Normally age groups 20-35 are considered as youth. Most of the activities are being done by the youth either constructive or destructive whatever may be. According to this the Youth in India is near about 20,00,00,000.00. Out of these if we can canalize at least 1% of this Youth then number is coming 20,00,000.00. If we can transform this two million Youth of India to work for the society then I think social revolution is bound to takes place. But where are they, who will build them up, who will tell them you are children of god the sharers of immortal bliss, holy and perfect beings ye divinities on earth. Come and do something heroic brothers, there is neither death, nor misery, nor misfortune for thee. Arise, Awake stand up and fight. Each soul is potentially divine only we have to manifest this. One thing it is very clear that 100 % will not jump into the work. Only few percent takes the leadership and the rest (mass) will only follow the leader. So if we increase our more no of percentage of man to come forward and join together and assimilate all the power of god against all the power of evil. Then like “ law of parallelogram ” - the rectangle will inclined towards the longer arm. For doing this job neither we have leave our home, our profession, nor we have to leave our society, service, common activities of day to life, but we can put our additional time, money, surplus energy, thoughts etc for the well being of masses, for our neighbor, our fellowmen, the poor, the down trodden those who are sinking day by day.

11. HANDLING HUMAN ENERGY- THE YOUTH POWER To raise the individuals in rise to the occasion we have taken up this left out job which is no body’s scope of work. When there will be more number of such type of man in our society then how long it will take to draw out dowry, caste- ism, freedom for women, illiteracy, poverty, population, social in-order, in-justice, crimes, fanaticism, education problem, health care problem, un-employment, adult age problem etc form our society. When there will be more number of men in our society then political reform, economical reform, educational reform, health care reform etc will takes place automatically. We have again taken up the job which is no body’s scope of work. I.e. to prepare the mind of the Indian youth for the re-build India. This job is basically to work on the mind of the people and make a strong youth work force to transform India and make it rejuvenated more glorious than before it was. When the inner soul are awakened in a man on this clarion call what he see. He saw “A man is an infinite circle whose circumference is no where, but the centre is located at one spot i.e. Within himself. That is the starting point of a man to expand, to grow and to start from within. When the man hearts expanded, control over the mind and conquered the both external and internal world that is the total development of man. A self-reliant, self-confident, self-respect man, with full of courage, energy, intellect and brain to think, complete control over the mind and a lion heart will definitely conquer the whole world. All the selfishness got vanished, the entire ego got vanished and the small I got crossed, (the real meaning of CROSS) the manifested GOD in the world. At this clarion call we fervently hope that this spirits will help us to know each other, to help each other, to grow, to cultivate our mind and starts new dimension of life to search of infinite in this finite world. When individuals are raised the society is bound to rise. This is a new dimensional scientific approach of social reconstruction in this millennium from Individualism to Socialism. On this auspicious occasion of 12th January we fervently hope by his message of raising of our own inner potential help us to know ourselves, to grow ourselves and start new dimension of life to search of infinite in this finite world and live in this world into a single family. A VOICE A man is an infinite circle whose circumference is nowhere, but the centre is located at one spot; and God is an infinite circle whose circumference is nowhere, but whose centre is everywhere. India will raise, when thousand of such man and women filled with the zeal of courage and fortified with the power of holiness preaching the gospel of equality, the gospel of friend ship, the gospel of salvation, then will the India will arise... Let us all work hard, my brethren; this is no time to sleep, on our works depends on the coming of the India of the future. She is there ready waiting, she is only sleeping, Arise and awake, and see her seated here, on her eternal throne, rejuvenated, more glorious than she was-the motherland of ours. Feel, my children; feel for the poor, the ignorant, the downtrodden; feel till the heart stops and the brain reels and you will go to mad; then pour the soul out at the feet of the Lord, and then will come power, help and indomitable energy. Struggle, struggle, was my motto for the last ten years, Struggle, still say I. When it was all dark, I used to say struggle; when light is breaking in, I still say, struggle. Be not afraid, my children. Have fire and spread all over. Work, work…… My faith is in the younger generation, the modern generation, out of them will come my workers. They will work out the whole problem, like lions. I have formulated the idea and given my life to it……..They will spread from Center to Center, until we covered the whole of India. Number does not count, nor does wealth or poverty; handful men can throw the world off its hinges, provided they are united in thought, word and deed- never forget the conviction. The more opposition there is the better. Does a river acquire velocity unless there is resistance? …. But appreciation or no appreciation I am born to organize these young men ; nay hundreds more in every city are ready to join me; and I want to send them rolling like irresistible waves over India, bringing comfort, morality, religion, education to the doors of the meanest and the most down trodden. And this I will do or die. With this mere echoing of others, with this base imitation of others, with this dependence on others, this slavish weakness, this vile, detestable cruelty-wouldst thou, with this provision only, scale of highest pinnacle of civilization and greatness. Wouldst thou attain, by means of thy disgraceful cowardice that freedom deserved only by the brave and the heroic? Forget not that the ideal of thy womanhood is Sita, Savitri, Damayanti, forget not the god thou worshippest is the great Ascetic of ascetics, the all renouncing Sankara, the Lord of Uma; forget not thy marriage, thy wealth, thy life are not for the sense-pleasure, are not for the individual personal happiness; forget not that thou art born as a sacrifice to the Mother’s alter; forget not that social order is but the reflex of the Infinite Universal Motherhood; forget not that the lower classes the ignorant, the poor, the illiterate, the cobbler, the sweeper, are thy flesh and blood thy brothers. Thou brave one, be bold, take courage, be proud that thou art an Indian, and proudly proclaim, “I am an Indian, and every Indian is my brother”. Say’ the ignorant Indian, the poor Indian and destitute Indian, the Brahmin Indian, the Pariah Indian is my brother”, Thou, too clad with but a rag round thy lions, proudly proclaim at the of thy voice, “The Indian is my brother, the Indian is my life, India’s gods and goddesses are my god. Indian’s society is the cradle of my infancy, the pleasure garden of my youth, the sacred heaven, the Varanashi of my old age”. Say, brother, “The soil of India is my highest heaven, the good of India is my good,” and repeat and pray day and night “O” thou Lord of Gauri, O Thou Mother of Universe, vouchsafe manliness unto me! O Thou Mother of Strength, take away my weakness, take away my unmanliness and make me a Man! Swami Vivekananda
