8 newsClip Improved layout analysis on born digital PDFs newsClip 6.4 newsClip 6.3 Layout analysis on PDFs provides sometimes poorer results than on comparable scanned pages using previous newsClip versions. Differences between scanned pages and "born digital" pages: PDFs have no "dirt", so no stand-alone points that should be ignored for the LA. On the contrary: all pixels have a meaning, should be associated with an object or a zone. The text used in PDFs is much thinner, thus consists of much less black pixels. Line width is often only one pixel. The previous LA therefore needlessly splits zones in some parts. Home Next

9 newsClip Pool configuration added on initial startup There is no database configuration done by the setup anymore. newsClip starts the first time with the pool database configuration where you have to edit the login details. Home Next

Instead of the previous “Private dictionary” tool an individual button can be configured e.g. in the left dialog box of the Correction job to open the user dictionary.
