How do we keep our plant alive? By: Ava Z, Jessica O, and Reagan W

Sites we used  Weekly Weather.com  Rosemary Interesting Facts.com  WWW. planet natural.com

10 things I learned about greenhouses  Green houses simulate a natural environment  You must have shutters to allow air exchange  Greenhouses do not need constant sunlight throughout the day.  A greenhouse covering can be glass.  Greenhouses have been around for atleast a couple thousand years going back to the Roman times to have cucumbers year round, Italy used it for different types of plants from the 13th century, and Korea has evidence of greenhouses usage going back to the 15th century.

10 things I learned about greenhouses (continued)  In modern times, getting started with own greenhouses can be done by picking up any of the different greenhouse kits available keeping in mind relevant zoning and other local regulations.  The Greenhouse Horticulture market is one of the fastest growing world widewith the demand for food expected to increase 100% by 2025.

10 things I learned about greenhouses (continued again)  New greenhouses designs are constantly being introduced, such as these semi- portable garden pods or these communal homes within a greenhouse in Japan.  The largest greenhouse in the world is called the Eden Project, located in Cornwall, England, and includes over 1 million plants from all around the world. Used for various environment and education learning programs.

10 things I learned about green houses ( continued again, again)  Heating for greenhouses are usually the highest ongoing costs, while historically has been fossil fuel based, is increasingly using solar energy, geothermal, and others.

Question How do we keep our plant alive for two weeks?

How will you build your greenhouse? We will use recycled materials, and make the greenhouse like a house for our plant

What materials will you use?  Empty water bottles  Filled water bottles  Clear scotch tape  1 small water bottle  Colorful paper  Index card  Markers  Stickers  Rosemary plant

Draw a detailed picture of your greenhouse with your measurements (Mr. Sheng took a picture)

Write a How-To for building your greenhouse 1. Get 15 water bottles (each 20 cm tall) 2. Get bubble wrap ( 20 cm by 20 cm). 3. Get duck tape ( 3 pieces each 15 cm). 4. Fill 10 water bottles with water(each filled with one cup of water). 5. Put two water bottles with water 20 cm away from each other. Then stack one water bottle on top of those ones ( will duck tape those together). 6. Duck tape a piece of bubble wrap that connects both bottles. 7. Duck tape three filled water bottles together. 8. Connect those water bottles to one filled water bottle then stack one water bottle sideways( will duck tape them). 9. connect 3 filled water bottle. Stack one water bottle sideways. 10. Duck tape 30 cm of bubble wrap to the top of the green house.

Build your greenhouse

If you had more time what would you have done to your greenhouse? We would have made the greenhouse bigger
