2  The result of a ten-year collaboration between the Children’s Learning Institute (University of Texas at Houston’s Health Science Center and the State Center for Early Childhood Development) and the Texas Education Agency  The TEEM Model  Kindergarten Readiness  Texas School Ready!  Based on the vision to bring online Texas School Ready! coursework to all interested stakeholders at no cost

3  A new comprehensive online Pre-K professional development learning platform for public school Pre-K and Head Start teachers in Texas to assist teachers in ensuring that their students become school ready  Aligns with the Infant and Toddler Guidelines  Aligns with the Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines  Includes all of the components of the Two-Day CIRCLE training (with the addition of a Science section and plans for a Social Studies section)

4  Houses the following Texas School Ready! Tools  Online professional development  Child progress monitoring  Classroom observation tools  Collaboration tools and resources

5  Ongoing professional development support  Methods of measuring teacher skills  Providing a research-based curriculum  Capturing student learning profiles  Encouraging family engagement  Supporting the creation of flexible class groupings The tools and resources will be further explained at the summer TOT

6  Social and Emotional Development  Self concept—feelings about self  Self control/regulation—managing own behavior  Social competence—forming relationships  Social awareness—knowing correct behavior for social situations Susan Landry

7  Responsive interaction style to support learning (respond appropriately in the moment)  Content that predicts school readiness  A balance of teaching strategies  Flexible groupings of children for learning (one- to-one, small groups, whole groups)  Purposeful, planned, and playful instruction for the efficient development of learning  Use of child progress monitoring to target instruction so that the teacher can use immediate feedback of data to plan for children who need assistance Susan Landry

9  January 29, 2015—luncheon with Howard Morrison (TEA) and representatives from CLI, including Dr. Landry  Introduced the online platform  Provided a sneak peek at the types of tools that will be available through the online platform  February 2015—registration for the online platform for the fall opened  March 27, 2015—webinar explaining the online platform (sent to ESC specialists)— repeats much of the same information as was provided at the luncheon
