2. What is a Tessellation?
A tessellation is created when a shape is repeated over and over again covering a flat surface without any gaps or overlaps. Another word for a tessellation is a tiling.

10. Let’s Make a Tessellation!
1. Draw the following design on the left of your card.
3. Slide that part to the right and tape it.
2. Cut out that part of the card.
4. Draw this new design at the bottom of the card.

11. 5. Cut out that part of the card.
7. Trace the design on your white paper until it is covered completely.
6. Slide it to the top and tape it.

13. Create you own Tessellation!
Create a “template” using at least 1 of the tessellations.
Once the template has been created, place your template at any of the four corners of your paper and trace your first figure.
Continue step 2 until the entire page is covered. All your figures on the paper should fit together so that it looks like a puzzle. Figures at the edge will only be partial images.
Once the page is covered, begin to add color to the figure.
Turn in tessellation creation and template.
