Monday 9 th September Did you know that yesterday was Racial Justice Sunday? This is a day of special prayer for justice and peace in the world. The theme of this year’s Racial Justice Day is "Dreams of the Beloved Community: celebrating the 50th Anniversary of 'I have a Dream' speech by Martin Luther King". Pope Francis has also made a passionate appeal for Peace in the world, and especially in war-torn Syria. He has asked Catholics throughout the world to observe a day of fasting and Prayer for Syria on Saturday 7th September. Lord God, Father of all humanity, listen to our prayers and give peace to the world, a just peace in which all people can find harmony. We ask you to remove hatred and violence from every heart and give to all the grace of understanding, mercy and love. Amen

Tuesday 10 th September Saint Ambrose Barlow, priest and martyr St Ambrose Barlow was born in 1585 at Barlow Hall in Chorlton-cum- Hardy. He became a Benedictine after studies at Douai and Valladolid, returning to Manchester to work for the many Catholics of this region. He was famed for his preaching and love of the poor. Imprisoned at least 4 times, he was executed at Lancaster in 1641.

Saint Ambrose was known for his preaching and love of the poor. So today we pray for the poor. We ask you Lord, to challenge us ~ especially when we become too set in our ways. Inspire us to review our priorities and values. so that our attitude may always be to give generously without counting the cost. Open our eyes and hearts to all people, and particularly to those who are vulnerable or marginalised or who can do nothing for us in return. Lead us to act justly, love tenderly, and walk humbly with you, our God. Amen. Saint Ambrose Barlow, please pray for us to have the courage to follow your courageous example.

Wednesday 11 th September Almighty God, Lord of all compassion, We remember the terrible events of this day in America. We are reminded that we live in a broken and grievously divided world. As Jesus commanded, we pray for an end to the hatred. We pray for the victims of this day in 2001 and other atrocities. We pray for the children left orphaned; for bereaved parents; for people still suffering from injuries and terrible memories. We pray for those who work to relieve and heal the suffering. Pour your Spirit upon us to enable us and all your people to work for justice and true peacemaking, In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Thursday 12 th September The Most Holy Name of Mary Walk with me Oh Lord I pray. Give me strength throughout the day. Take my problems big and small. Lift me when I tend to fall. Walk with me Oh Lord I pray. Prompt me what to do and say. Let me feel you always there. Lift me when I feel despair. Amen

Friday 13 th September Saint John Chrysostom, bishop and doctor John Chrysostom was born in Antioch in 349 and after a glowing career as a priest was made Bishop of Constantinople in 397. Here his preaching and care for justice brought opposition from the Imperial court and was twice exiled. He died in exile in 407. MORNING OFFERING O Jesus, through the most pure Heart of Mary, I offer you all the prayers, works, sufferings and joys of this day for all the intentions of Thy divine Heart in the Holy Mass. Amen.
