Cable TV – channels that can be received through cable, satellite, or FIOS. – Cable channel ratings will not be as high as network ratings. – Examples of cable channels: TBS – Turner Broadcast System ESPN – Entertainment and Sports Programming Network HBO – Home Box Office AMC – American Movie Classics

3 What are television/home video considerations? Home video has become extremely popular due to HDTV and home theater systems. Components of a typical home theater setup: – HDTV – rectangular, flat screen, movie theater quality picture (720p, 1080i, 1080p). – DVD (Digital Video Disc)/Blu-Ray Player – Blu-Ray is high definition (1080p) version of DVD (480p). – Streaming – content streamed directly from the internet (NetFlix) – Surround sound system – consists of receiver plus speakers to create sound similar to a movie theater. Digital 5.1 means two front speakers, one center speaker, two rear speakers, and one subwoofer. Creates sounds as the filmmaker intended.
