3. Assignments Reflection Paper – In around 1 page. Carefully read 1 Samuel 16. Consider the following questions: (1) Do you struggle with verses 14-15? (2) Does this suggest that God is the source and cause of evil? (Read also James 1:12-18 to help in your thoughts). (3) How responsible was Saul for what has occurred to him spiritually? 4. What is a Reflection Paper? Before writing a reflection paper, the writer needs to decide what major theme he or she will write about. By establishing a theme, the writer will be able to write in a clear and concise manner. The reflection paper is not a random free-flow of ideas, but a well thought-out presentation of ideas. To do this, divide the paper into 2 or 3 major points and give each point its own paragraph. This will help the reader understand and conceptualize the various components of the theme. The paper needs to grab the interest of the reader and present ideas in a clear, concise, and cogent manner. Taking time to interact with personal feelings is an important part of the process.

5. What is a Reflection Paper? Answer these questions in your paper: What is the core idea or theme of my reflection? Why is this relevant?” What values or preconceived ideas are in conflict? How does this reflection make you feel? Does this reflection challenge what you believe? If so, how do you evaluate the truth of the Bible in light of your feelings?

6. What is a Reflection Paper? The key to the reflection paper: After answering these questions, state what you have learned in a summary paragraph. This will give relevance to the observation and your feelings, as well as help the reader better understand your point of view.

7. Assignments Discussion Question– Write a ONE page (250 words) post discussing Leadership in society and the church. In what way(s) does modern culture misunderstand how to choose a leader? Share an example of a person you know who had little to offer in terms of what the world looks for, but had it all in terms of what God looks for in a leader. In addition, respond to at least TWO additional postings. First post is due Friday August 9th (11:59pm CST). Then read and respond to at least two of your classmates’ initial posts by the end of the week (Monday August 12 th, 11:59pm CST)
