2. Education History Before 1870: Education was VOLUNTARY. 1880: 1 st Education act. Education = compulsory 1944: ANOTHER education act, Education = free 1988: National Curriculum introduced

5. 1944 – Free for all!!! Education was compulsory up to 16yrs old. Education became free up to the age of 16. New opportunities after the devastation of the war. Class sizes were smaller, 30-40 students. Still punished and humiliated.

7. 1988 – modern education The comprehensive school established National curriculum introduced Class sizes between 20-30 More qualified teaches inc. Men State schools are less strict No form of physical punishment

10. Universities 18 yrs is the youngest you can attend. 1992 – More than 100 in England Before 1998 – University Education free 1998 – fees introduced. 1) 1998 – 18,000RMB (a year) 2) 2005 – 31,250RMB (a year) 3) 2011 – 90,000RMB (a year)
